Summary of Role
Working as part of a small and busy team, the AML Analyst will have responsibility for quality control of risk assessment and due diligence for new and existing clients. Our analysts are knowledgeable and trusted advisors, dealing with a variety of AML issues from risk assessment and complex ownership to source of funds and wealth and screening. Your personal knowledge and skills will be making a difference every day.
Morton Fraser MacRoberts is a large commercial law firm, providing a variety of legal services to a range of clients and you must be able to quickly adapt and apply your working AML knowledge to new situations and have an interest in the application of AML to legal services. The role would best suit an experienced AML Analyst looking to expand their knowledge of applied AML.
Key Tasks
- Show a high level of personal commitment for managing own workload and ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed.
- Assess ID held and required.
- Assess ownership structures of varying complexity.
- Screen relevant parties appropriately and assess the output of screening, discounting potential hits etc.
- Assess varying types of Source of Funds and Source of Wealth evidence for private and commercial clients (bank statements, annual accounts, etc.)
- Make decisions on appropriateness of CDD gathered, liaising with team and MLRO as necessary.
- Act as a trusted advisor to solicitors and others in the firm during escalations and complex onboarding.
- Audit internal files and advise on quality of CDD and risk assessment.
- Use internal systems to open new clients and matters.
- Carry out conflict checks as required or directed.
- Deal with matter maintenance issues as required (e.g. re-opening and re-naming client matters).
Qualifications and Experience
- For this role, it is essential that the candidate has more than >3 years of experience in a similar role.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge and interest in AML, plus an aptitude for learning.
